Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are off to a fantastic new year! The Creator Camp community grew a lot in 2023 and it’s been super cool to see how supportive and kind everyone has been. I can feel the excitement from everyone and I have a feeling this is gonna be a fantastic year :)

Some Recent Uploads 🎞✨

• Zurkie (James Harwan) is a creator we met earlier this year who also attended our last Base Camp, perhaps you’ve seen his work or come across his video about losing his handwriting. He’s currently studying in Athens, Georgia with plans to graduate this May. Over the past year, he has taken major strides toward his dreams.
  
  James is stepping deeper into the YouTube world and recently uploaded an awesome video: 2024 is here, but it won’t be for long.
  

• Samantha Lynn is a friend and an incredible designer. We met her through the infamous Natalie Lynn.
  
  I’m not exaggerating when I say Samantha is an incredible designer, she’s helped design the CC hoodies, our physical calendar at our last Base Camp event, and also helped design these incredible hoodies for Natalie & Simon.
  
  Samantha kicked off 2024 with a new YouTube video as well: closer than they appear covering the past 6 months of her life as a student, biologist, designer, and aspiring wildlife camerawoman.
  

• Annie Dang is a musician, creator, and latte artist ☕️

  
  In her latest release, "What Nobody Tells You About Being a Full-Time YouTuber," she delves deeply into her personal journey as a YouTuber. The video artfully uncovers the layered and diverse challenges that are often part and parcel of a creative's career, culminating in a well-crafted and thoughtful resolution.
  

• Mandelbro (Bartholomew) is a talented musician & artist whom we had the pleasure of meeting in Paris this past summer. You may have heard some of his songs used in Max’s videos. He also doubles as a full-stack developer and has some interesting projects where he blends his musical creativity with his programming skills.
  
  He recently uploaded a video diving into his beliefs on why he chooses to create art during a period where it feels like everything is falling apart, it blew us away: Making music in a world that’s falling apart.

Creator On The Rise 🔥 🌲🏔

Steven Myat is a creator we recently stumbled upon. It was this above video (uploaded on Jan 2nd) that caught our attention.

This is a video about friendship and everything from the cinematography to the editing is incredible. When I watched this I couldn’t help but get engulfed into the story. It feels raw, it feels authentic.

Steven does such a great job of highlighting little things throughout the video and it helps capture the essence of their relationship. I couldn’t recommend this video more.

New Team Members 🌲🏔

A few months ago we opened up an intern application. We are super excited to announce that we have 3 incredible individuals who are joining the CC team for the next few months. Please meet Leonardo, Elena, and Alex.

Each of them is incredible in their own unique ways. Leo (bottom left) is from Italy and is currently in his second year of university. He’ll be primarily helping us with design, in fact, lots of the design & graphics in this newsletter were inspired by him. He’s also an exceptional video creator. You can view some of his latest work on Instagram here.

Elena (top right) is a recent grad from Mgil University in Canada. Fun fact, she spent 5 months camping in Kenya and Tanzania earlier this year, as part of a field study semester with 30 other students. Elena will be helping on the community side of things as well as planning future events!

Neel (bottom right) is currently studying at UVA. He reached out to us earlier in November. He’s been helping us build out additional arms of the business to help us fund our events more sustainably! Fun fact, he had his wisdom teeth pulled out this week.

Alex, (top left) is currently enrolled at one of the top business schools in Paris. She’s a creator, entrepreneur, and an incredibly hard worker. You can check out her channel here. She’s primarily helping us with our messaging and how we communicate what we are doing to the world :)

Creator Camp Team Updates 🔥⛺️

• Playbook is our first sponsor for Base Camp Russian River. If you aren’t familiar Playbook is a cloud storage platform. On our road trip up to San Francisco we got to meet their small team of 12.
  
  The founder Jessica previously worked at Google and helped build Google Drive. She left to start building Playbook a more creative version of Google Drive. Here’s how we used Playbook to recap our last experience.
  
  Notion was such a great partner last time we are hoping to get them involved in this experience as well. The clock is ticking and we’re waiting to hear back from their team, fingers crossed!

• We have some interesting vocab on the Creator Camp team that I thought would be fun to share. This was primarily started by Max & Simon who love to download new terminology every week.

  Origin: Coined by CC Team in late 2023
  Definition: The act of becoming fully aware of something as a fact
  Synonyms: Realization, Understanding, Comprehension
  Example: I just read this book and it gave me so many unlocks.
  
  Locked In 🔓 (noun)
  Origin: Recommend by Annie Dang
  Definition: To get focused and commit to something
  Synonyms: Focus, grind, or flow state
  Example: I’ve got an exam tomorrow, it’s time to lock in.
  
  Mote 🌊 (noun)
  Origin: Coined by CC Team in early 2024 & purposely spelled wrong
  Definition: A characteristic, quality, or talent that provides a competitive advantage. Something that can’t be replicated easily. Intended as a defense against attack.
  Synonyms: Competitive Advantage, Defense, Security
  Example: Schyguy’s cinematography is his Mote
