The Latest News In The Camp Community
Hey friends,
First and foremost it was our co-founder Ryan Ng’s birthday this past Saturday. Ryan’s currently in Toronto for Buffer Festival where he got the opportunity to premiere his latest film.
Wish Ryan a happy birthday for us :)
As our friend Katie Xu, says “It’s a big day if you choose to make it one”. Well, it’s been a big two weeks for the camp community. There is SO much to cover.
Let’s dive into it!
Base Camp Thanksgiving 🎥
The post-base camp energy continues! This past Sunday, the NYC crew got together for a basecampgiving! They had pizza, pie, cake, & drinks :)
We loved seeing a mix of friends from past Camp events, our latest Base Camp, as well as folks from the Verci community. It genuinely warms our hearts to see everyone together.
Big shout out and thank you to Jeffrey & Zahra for hosting things this week. The team and I here in Austin were jealous that we weren’t in the city to be a part of the energy!
The Camp team may be paying a visit sometime soon for a special project 🤫
The Jeffery Sun Gallery!
In addition, earlier this past week, Jeffrey Sun showcased his gallery in NYC! Jeffrey is an incredible photographer (and dancer) so this was well deserved.
For those of you not familiar, Jeffrey has been working as a photography apprentice this past summer. The gallery represents the final show of his apprenticeship.
It’s dedicated to the 6 months he spent traveling & backpacking the world last year. It was a mixture of moments, photos captured, and journal entries.
Jeffrey, if you’re reading this, you’re killing it! We believe in everything you’re doing!
Elliot & Annemarie are BACK in full swing!
The NYC Vloggers are back!
Our two good friends Annemarie Chase & Elliot Choy are back on YouTube!
This week Annemarie, who is also our roommate here in Austin, has been working tirelessly to put out her synchronicity video. She set the goal over a month ago to have it ready & posted by November 11th and she accomplished just that.
In short Annemarie’s video dives into the concept of Synchronicity.
which can be defined & interpreted in many different ways.
Google’s definition is “the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.”
She also put out a new podcast episode this week that dives into why she’s been absent on social media this year and where she’s been. You can find the episode here.
In the same weekend, Elliot also posted on YouTube announcing that he will be vlogging again. This past summer we traveled through Italy with Elliot. We invited him out to join us in Europe and he said yes on a whim. For a solid two weeks, Elliot kept asking what we had planned…eventually Elliot made the entire itinerary :)
During this time we got to explore some of Italy’s most scenic landscapes and Elliot shared with us why he was taking a break, where he’s at in life, and what’s next. His latest video dives into all of this, you can find it here.
Believe it or not, he also titled the video “ELLIOT CHOY RETURNS”
(just kidding this was Simon’s recommendation for a title)
A Work of Art
Just over a week ago, Schyguyy, collaborated with Diego Boop to create the short film you see above - “Infinite Night”
Zach aka (Schyguyy) did an incredible job directing, filming, color grading, and acting. A good test to see if you are familiar with Zach’s work is to see if you recognize this song. Although he is not the writer he practically owns the sound.
In all seriousness, you can find Zach’s work here.
Fellow camp member, Steezy Kane shared Deigo’s work with us a few months back, so it’s incredible to see the overlap of new camp members working with other talented folks we have our eyes on! I highly recommend spending a few minutes taking a peak at Diego’s work — it’s unlike anything I’ve seen on the internet
Sky Cowans Base Camp Recap
Our beloved friend Sky Cowans just uploaded her latest video onto YouTube. Sky’s channel & mission have a big why behind them. A main goal for her is to focus on shifting judgment to curiosity and we had the opportunity to see this first hand when she premiered her Alien Abduction Documentary at Base Camp earlier last month.
Her most recent upload documents her Base Camp experience. Thank you Sky for capturing so many incredible moments, it’s awesome to see the week from your perspective (and to rewatch Jeffrey Sun learning how to ride a bike).
If you’re interested in what Base Camp looked like, I definitely recommend checking out Sky’s video.
Some Fun Extra Things & Opportunities 🙌
James Seo (The Korean NPC) is on a role, Chris Waite helped setup a collab between Jeremy Zucker & James. In the same week, James also did a collab with Steve Aoki.
Ethan Uncurated (aka Ethan Train) also shot photos for the Jeremy Zucker concert in NYC. They are indeed bonkers, check them out here.
We’re also seeking additional support over at Creator Camp if anyone is interested in a 3-month internship. Feel free to fill out this form. We are preparing to kick this off in the next week!
We started a Creator Camp running club through Strava. Last week our winner was Annie Dang - you can sign up and run with us here!
